Introducing Advanced Physics 🔬

We’ve taken Surf Shaman’s simulation core to the next level. This update isn’t just about more data — it’s about translating the real physics of the ocean into something you can feel, plan around, and trust.

For years, surf forecasts have been built on surface-level data: height, period, direction. Useful, but limited. Our goal with this upgrade was to go deeper — to connect what’s happening below the surface with what you actually see and ride. The result is a suite of advanced physics tools that model how waves move, transform, and break based on the coastline, bottom shape, wind, and swell interactions. It’s not about guessing anymore. It’s about seeing the ocean the way it really works.

⚙️ What’s Inside the Update

We’ve added a full range of simulation modules that decode wave behavior in detail — but keep it visual and intuitive so you never need to open a spreadsheet.

  • Coastline Analyzer taps into satellite and bathymetry data to show bottom contours, hazards, and how the local shape of the coast changes the surf.

  • Swell Interference reveals how multiple swells overlap to create real-world sets and lulls — a true read on rhythm and range.

  • Deep-Water Properties calculates wavelength, speed, and steepness directly from period for instant insight.

  • Dispersion Solver and Steepness Limit model how waves evolve as they approach shallow water, defining when they’ll break or lose power.

  • Iribarren Breaker Type predicts whether a wave will spill, plunge, or surge depending on slope and steepness — the difference between playful and punishing.

  • Set Analysis tracks how organized the ocean is, showing sets per hour, lull length, and consistency so you can time your paddle perfectly.

  • Wind Effects simulates how wind interacts with the swell — when it grooms the face and when it ruins it.

Each of these tools works together to form a complete picture of the surf environment — from deep water to shoreline, from satellite map to lineup.

🧭 How to Access These Tools

You can access the new physics suite right inside your Surf Shaman interface or through conversation prompts.

  • To analyze the coast, say:
“From the satellite view, what bottom features are shaping this break?”
    → Triggers analyzeCoastline 🛰️

  • To run wave simulations, say:
“Can you model the wave physics here right now?”
    → Triggers getWavePhysicsAnalysis

  • To understand sets, winds, and swell interactions, use prompts like:
    “How organized are the sets?”getWaveSetAnalysis
“How do the swells combine?”getWaveInterference 🔀
“What does the wind do to quality?”getWindEffects 💨

All modules are live — no setup required. Just ask, and Surf Shaman runs the right simulation in real time.

🌐 Why It Matters

This upgrade marks a turning point for Surf Shaman. The vision has always been to merge the physics of waves with the intuition of surfing. The new engine lets you explore the ocean as a living, dynamic system — not just a forecast. It bridges what satellite data sees, what models compute, and what you actually feel in the water.

This isn’t forecasting anymore. It’s understanding.

⚡ Try It Now

Open Surf Shaman and run your first physics analysis — or just ask Trey, “Simulate the wave physics here.” The new tools will do the rest.
