The Strait in Washington is a sheltered left-hand point break with fairly consistent surf, offering the best conditions during autumn and winter, especially December. The spot receives a mix of groundswells and windswells, with the ideal swell direction from the northwest. Offshore winds from the south create clean waves, with the break working best around mid tide when the tide is rising. It is rarely crowded, but surfers should be cautious of rocks in the lineup.
