It performs best when a southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the west-northwest. The waves are more often from local windswells than distant groundswells, and the quality of the surf is not affected by the tide. When it’s working, the spot can get crowded. Surfers should beware of rips, obstacles, sharks, and jellyfish. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during Winter, with January being the most reliable month.
