Wild Dunes on Isle of Palms (SC) is an exposed beach-break fronting a resort area, offering surf when southeast swell aligns with offshore northwest winds. It performs best in winter—especially November—when longer-period swells and cleaner wind conditions produce more consistently rideable peaks. The shoreline features shifting sandbars that typically break best around low to mid tide. Although resort access may bring some crowds, the beach’s length allows for spread-out lineups. Surfers should remain cautious of rip currents and occasional pier-related hazards.
