Hunting Island in South Carolina is an exposed beach break with pretty consistent surf that works year-round. It performs best with offshore winds from the west and an east swell, receiving energy from both local windswells and distant groundswells. The beach break offers both left and right-hand waves and is best surfed around high tide when the tide is rising. It can be sometimes crowded, and surfers should be cautious of rips and rocks. Optimal conditions occur when an east swell aligns with west winds, with the most consistent clean waves typically found in summer, especially in July.
