Edisto Beach in South Carolina is an exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf that can work year-round. It performs best with offshore winds from the northwest and a southeast swell, drawing energy equally from local windswells and distant groundswells. The beach break offers both left and right-hand waves and provides good surf at all tide stages. It remains uncrowded even when conditions are good, but surfers should watch out for rips, undertow, rocks, and sharks. The best surf occurs when a southeast swell combines with northwest winds, with the most consistent clean waves typically in autumn, especially in November.
