El Astillero in Tola Province is an exposed reef and rivermouth break that offers fairly consistent surf, best during the summer months, with July providing the most reliable clean waves. It works best with northeast offshore winds and south-southwest groundswells, with the left reef being the standout, though a right reef also breaks. The wave is best around low tide, is rarely crowded, and hazards include rips and rocks.
