K38/39 in Rhode Island is an exposed reef and cobblestone break, offering long, peeling rights with occasional lefts that appeal to intermediate and advanced surfers—best conditions typically arrive in fall and winter. Offshore northwest to west winds groom east, southeast, and northeast swells, producing lined-up walls with excellent shape. The spot works across most tide stages, though mid tide often provides the best combination of speed and form. Crowds are generally lighter than at Rhode Island’s more popular breaks, though weekends can draw a committed local crew. Surfers should watch for slippery rocks, urchins, and strong rip currents on larger swells. The best surf is typically found in October and November.
