Punta de Brea in Puerto Rico is a reasonably exposed beach break that offers fairly consistent surf, though it is often flat during the summer. The spot works best with Southeast groundswells paired with an offshore Northwest wind, which provides some shelter from West-Northwest winds. It offers both left and right-breaking waves. Crowds are typically unknown here, but a potential hazard is the presence of sharks. The best time of year for consistent, clean waves is during the winter, particularly the month of January.
