Eze in Côte d'Azur is a very sheltered beach break that requires a significant weather event to produce rideable waves, making it one of the more infrequent spots along the coast. Winter is the optimum time of year for surfing here, as the summer months are almost exclusively flat. The spot performs best when a strong south or southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the north. Waves are almost entirely provided by local windswells, offering both left and right-handers that are generally best suited for longboards or high-volume shapes due to the lack of power. It is rarely crowded even when working, but surfers should be cautious of the rocky shoreline and the relatively narrow take-off zones. The best conditions reported for surf at Eze occur when a South swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the North.
