Santa Catarina on Ilha Terceira in the Azores is a fairly exposed reef break with reasonably consistent surf, especially in autumn and winter. It works best with north swells and offshore winds from the southwest, receiving a mix of groundswells and windswells. The spot is relatively uncrowded even on good days. Surfers should be cautious of rocks and rip currents. The best month to surf Santa Catarina is December, when winter swells and offshore winds most reliably produce clean, rideable waves.
