Praia de Alvor is a reasonably exposed beach break in The Algarve that offers reasonably consistent surf, with Winter being the best time of year for surfing, featuring both left and right-hand waves. The most favorable conditions are a Southwest windswell combined with offshore winds from the North. The break works best around high tide. The spot is unlikely to be crowded, even when there are waves, but surfers should be aware of strong rips. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in October.
