Praia da Marinha in the Algarve is a semi-exposed beach break known for occasional surf, working best with southwest swells and offshore winds from the north or northeast. The rocky coastline and sandy patches produce mellow lefts and rights, typically cleaner around mid tide. Surf here is generally inconsistent—often flat in summer—but winter swells can bring fun, manageable waves suited for intermediate surfers. Crowds tend to be low due to the beach’s more remote location. The best month for surf is usually January.
