Porto Novo in Central Lisboa is a sheltered right-hand reef break with fairly consistent surf, especially during autumn and winter. It works best with north swells and offshore winds from the west, receiving a mix of groundswells and windswells. The break performs well at all tide stages but can get crowded, with rocky hazards and local surfers to be mindful of. The best month to surf Porto Novo is January, when winter swells and offshore winds most reliably produce clean, rideable waves.
