The spot works best with groundswells from the southwest and offshore winds from the east, producing clean, powerful waves that perform best around a rising high tide. Pedra Branca can attract crowds when conditions line up, and surfers should exercise caution due to sharp rocks and sea urchins. The prime season for consistent, clean waves is during winter—particularly in December—when a southwest swell combines with easterly offshore winds.
