Local Knowledge
Sauveterre is a highly versatile spot in the Côte de Lumière, offering a unique combination of beach, reef, and point breaks. It is known for its fairly consistent surf that can work year-round, drawing energy from a mix of groundswells and windswells. The area provides a wide variety of waves, including left and right-hand beach peaks and a dedicated right-hand reef break. One of its biggest draws is its reliability across the tidal range, providing good surf at all stages of the tide. However, surfers should stay alert for strong rips and submerged rocks, especially when the lineup gets crowded. The peak performance occurs with a West-southwest swell and Northeast offshore winds, with March and the Spring season being the prime time for clean, consistent waves.
