Local Knowledge
Plage des Granges in the Vendée is a reasonably consistent exposed beach break that, like many of its neighbors, tends to go flat during the summer months. It is a well-balanced spot, receiving both local windswells and distant groundswells in equal measure, ideally from a West-southwest angle. One of its standout features is that it provides good surf at all stages of the tide, offering both left and right-hand peaks. Perhaps most appealing for those looking to escape the pack, it is rarely crowded, even when the conditions are on. The best sessions occur when a West-southwest swell meets East offshore winds, with March and the Spring season being the prime time for consistent, clean waves.
