Smugglers Cove in North Oregon is an exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf year-round, primarily powered by groundswells from the west. The best wind direction is from the east-northeast, providing offshore conditions. The quality of surf here is not significantly affected by the tide. When conditions align, the spot can get crowded. Hazards include rips, undertow, and sharks. Optimal surf occurs when a west swell combines with an east-northeast offshore wind. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during autumn, especially in January.
