Cannon Beach in North Oregon is an exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf, receiving a balanced mix of windswells and groundswells. The ideal swell direction is from the southwest, and the best wind direction is from the east, creating offshore conditions. The break offers both left and right-hand waves and is rarely crowded. Optimal surf conditions occur when a southwest swell aligns with an east offshore wind. While summer often brings favorable conditions, the most consistent clean waves typically occur during winter, especially in January.
