La Torchère in the Gironde is an exposed beach break known for its very consistent surf, remaining active and rideable all year round. This spot produces both left and right-hand waves, receiving a balanced mix of local windswells and distant groundswells. Its versatility is a major draw, as it remains surfable at all stages of the tide. Because of its reliability, the lineup can sometimes become crowded, and surfers should be mindful of both strong rip currents and a potentially protective local crowd. The best conditions occur when a West swell combines with East-southeast offshore winds, with October being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
