Petit Bec on the Île de Ré is a reliable exposed beach break that can produce quality waves at any time of the year. Unlike many spots in the region that rely on westerly energy, this break is at its best when a North-northwest groundswell hits the coast. It provides both left and right-hand peaks, and because of its reliability, the lineup can get crowded when the conditions are on. The best sessions occur when that North-northwest swell combines with Southeast offshore winds. Notably, while many French breaks thrive in the Autumn, Petit Bec is a standout during the Summer, with August being the prime month for consistent, clean surf.
