Raupo Bay in Banks Peninsula is a reasonably exposed beach break that has quite reliable surf and can work at any time of the year. The best conditions occur when an East-southeast swell, consisting of a mix of groundswells and windswells, combines with an offshore wind direction from the Southwest. The beach break provides both left and right-hand waves and can sometimes be crowded. Surfers should be mindful of hazards including rips and rocks at this location. The best time of year for surfing Raupo Bay with consistent, clean waves is during the winter, particularly the month of June.
