Hither Hills State Park, located in Long Island, NY, is an exposed beach break that provides reliable surf year-round. It works well with both windswell and groundswells, with the optimal swell direction coming from the southeast. The surf breaks offer both lefts and rights, and tide does not significantly impact the quality of the waves. Offshore winds typically come from the northwest, and the best conditions occur when a southeast swell combines with northwest winds. While the spot can get crowded, it’s known for its strong rip currents, so caution is advised. The prime time for consistent, clean waves is during winter, especially in March.
