Dune Rd. West in Suffolk County is a semi-exposed beach break known for its consistent, punchy waves, especially during hurricane season in late summer and fall. South and southeast swells provide the best energy, while offshore northwest to west winds groom clean peaks that can offer both lefts and rights. The sandbars shift frequently, creating varied conditions from mellow, rideable waves to more hollow sections. It works across all tides, though mid tide often offers the most balanced shape. Crowds are generally light compared to nearby spots, giving it a more relaxed atmosphere. The best surf is typically from August through October.
