The Glen in Nelson - Tasman Bay is an exposed beach break that does not work very often and has no particular seasonal pattern. The best conditions occur when a Northwest groundswell combines with an offshore wind direction from the Southeast, though the spot has no shelter from cross-shore breezes. The beach break primarily offers right-hand waves and performs best around mid tide. Crowds are never a problem here, but surfers should beware of hazards such as urchins and rocks. The best time of year for consistent, clean waves is during the winter, particularly the month of August.
