The Inlet and Pier in Maryland is a highly consistent exposed beach and jetty break that offers reliable surf year-round. It performs best when northeast swells meet offshore winds from the west, with some natural shelter from southerly winds enhancing its versatility. The break receives both local windswells and distant groundswells, producing a mix of left and right-hand waves. Unlike many spots, the surf quality here is not strongly affected by tide changes. Due to its reliability and accessibility, it can become crowded when conditions are favorable. Surfers should be cautious of strong rip currents, which are a known hazard at this location. The best time for clean, rideable waves is typically in the winter, with November being the most consistent month for ideal conditions.
