48th Street in Delaware is an exposed beach/Jetty break that usually has waves and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the west. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the southeast. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights. Best around low tide when the tide is rising. Likely to be crowded if working. Watch out for dangerous rips. IMportant: The best conditions reported for surf at 48th Street occur when a Southeast swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the West. The best time of year for surfing 48th Street with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is during Summer and most often the month of July.
