Wells Beach in Maine is an exposed beach break with consistent surf that works year-round. It performs best with east swells and offshore winds from the northwest, drawing waves equally from local windswells and distant groundswells. The beach break offers both left and right-hand waves and is best surfed around mid tide as the tide rises. The spot is rarely crowded, but surfers should be cautious of rips and rocks. The prime time for clean, rideable waves is during winter, especially in November.
