Salinas Grandes is an exposed beach break in Nicaragua that offers powerful and consistent waves. It works best with offshore winds from the east and groundswells from the south to southwest. The most favorable conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with light offshore winds from the east. The beach provides both left and right-hand waves and is moderately crowded during strong swells. Surfers should be cautious of strong rips and shifting sandbanks. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during the summer months, particularly from May to September.
