Hulihee Palace in Big Island is an exposed reef break that typically offers dependable surf, especially during the summer months. It works best when a south-southwest swell aligns with offshore winds from the east, producing clean, left-hand reef breaks that are most ideal around high tide. The spot attracts a fair number of surfers when it's on, so expect some crowding. Be mindful of potential hazards such as urchins, rips, rocks, and localism. July is often considered the peak month for catching consistently rideable waves here.
