Playa de Melide in Galicia is a sheltered beach break that only works once in a while, with winter being the best time of year for a visit. The spot provides both left and right-hand waves primarily from groundswells and offers some shelter from northwest winds; it is a serene, isolated location that very rarely gets crowded. The best conditions reported for surf at Playa de Melide occur when a Southwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the Northeast, and the best time of year for surfing with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is the month of February.
