Playa de Malpica in Galicia is a fairly exposed beach break with consistent surf, although it tends to be mostly flat during the summer months. The spot offers both left and right-hand waves from a mix of groundswells and windswells and provides some shelter from southwest winds; it performs best on a falling mid-tide and is rarely crowded. The best conditions reported for surf at Playa de Malpica occur when a Northwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the South, and the best time of year for surfing with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is the month of January.
