Playa de Espasante in Galicia is a very sheltered beach break that has quite consistent surf, particularly when the open coast is overwhelmed by large swells. This picturesque spot provides both left and right-hand waves driven by an equal mix of local windswells and distant groundswells; while it performs best around low tide, it can get quite busy when conditions are prime, and surfers should be wary of strong rip currents. The best conditions reported for surf at Playa de Espasante occur when a Northwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the South, and the best time of year for surfing with consistent clean waves is the month of December.
