Turtle Beach in Alabama is an exposed beach break that only works when conditions align just right, with the best surf typically in winter. The waves are primarily windswells, with an ideal swell direction from the northwest and offshore winds from the east-northeast. The break offers both lefts and rights, and surf quality is generally unaffected by tide changes. Despite its potential, it’s rarely crowded, even when the waves are good. The best surf occurs when a northwest swell meets east-northeast offshore winds. Consistent clean conditions are most likely in winter, especially in January. Beware of strong rip currents.
