Sunglow Pier in Daytona Beach Shores is a well-structured pier and beach-break that consistently delivers surf shaped by a sandy bottom and nearby jetty features. It performs best in summer—particularly July—when northeast swells align with southwest offshore breezes to create cleaner rideable waves. At optimal times, about 28% of July sessions offer surfable conditions—while another 26% may be blown out—making it one of the most reliable summer surf zones in North Florida. Waves form predictably throughout the tide range and often produce peeling lefts and rights. While generally crowded during swell days, its accessible location disperses surfers across multiple peaks. Hazards include rips near the pier, submerged buoys, and frequent locals in the water.
