South Beach in South Florida is a sheltered beach and jetty break with reliable surf that can work year-round. Offshore winds from the west and north-northeast swells create ideal conditions, with the beach break favoring right-handers. It’s best surfed around low tide as it rises. Crowds are common when the surf is up. Surfers should watch out for rips, rocks, obstacles, pollution, and sharks. The most consistent clean waves are typically seen in winter, with January offering the best surf.
