Local Knowledge
Riomar Reef in North Florida is a fairly exposed beach and reef break that delivers decent surf, particularly during the winter months. It performs best when north swells pair with offshore winds from the west-southwest, especially around low tide. Both left and right reef breaks are available, offering a bit of variety. Despite its potential, it’s usually uncrowded—even on good days. Hazards include sharks, rips, and submerged rocks, so caution is advised. January is typically the most consistent month for clean, rideable waves.
