Local Knowledge & Surf Guide
Local Knowledge
2nd Light is a sandy beach-break located just south of Cocoa Beach near the second traffic light heading south, offering direct beach access and roadside parking. Surf tends to be most consistent during the winter season, particularly December, when northeast swells combine with light southwest offshore winds to produce surfable conditions. It works best on northeast swell directions paired with offshore winds from the southwest, and typically holds up well across all tide stages. The waves are generally small to moderate—peaky and clean—and suit everyone from beginners to advanced surfers. Crowds can be moderate when it’s up, and surfers should watch for occasional rip currents and shifting sandbars.
