La Arena in Pais Vasco is a reasonably exposed beach break that offers fairly consistent surf, with autumn and winter providing the optimum conditions for waves. This spot provides both left and right-hand beach breaks from an equal measure of local windswells and distant groundswells; while it delivers good surf at all stages of the tide and is only sometimes crowded, visitors should be extremely cautious of dangerous rips. The best conditions occur when a Northwest swell combines with South-southeast offshore winds, with December being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
