Local Knowledge
Caca Rio is an exposed river break in Limon that offers quite reliable left and right-hand waves. The peak surfing season is the dry season, from May to October. The most favorable conditions are a northeast groundswell combined with offshore winds from the west-northwest. Crowds are never a problem here. Surfers should be aware of rips/undertow, but the spot is shark protected. The best time for consistent, clean waves is typically in December.
