Benicassim in Valencia is an exposed sandbar break that only works occasionally, with summer often being flat. The best conditions come with an east-northeast swell and offshore winds from the northwest. Windswells are much more common than groundswells, and the sandbar break offers both left and right-hand waves. The quality of the surf is not significantly affected by the tide. When it’s working, Benicassim can get crowded, and surfers should be cautious of dangerous rips. The best month to surf Benicassim is September.
