Trolley's in Canterbury is an exposed beach break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. The best conditions occur when a clean East-northeast groundswell combines with an offshore wind direction from the Southwest. There is no shelter from cross-shore breezes at this location, so conditions can be sensitive to wind changes. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves, and crowds are never a problem here. The best time of year for surfing Trolley's with consistent, clean waves is during the winter, particularly the month of August.
