Zuma Beach in LA County is an exposed beach break known for its quite reliable surf. It performs best during summer with offshore winds from the northeast. Most waves come from groundswells, favoring a southwest swell direction, and the beach break offers both left and right-hand waves. The spot works best around mid tide and is rarely crowded. Surfers should be mindful of rips and pollution hazards. The best conditions arise when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the northeast. The prime time for consistent clean waves with rideable swell and light or offshore winds is during winter, especially in December.
