It performs best with offshore winds from the east and primarily receives groundswells from the west-northwest. The waves are mainly right-handers and are best around high tide. This spot is often crowded, and surfers should be cautious of strong rips. The ideal conditions occur when a west-northwest swell combines with offshore winds from the east. The best time for consistent, clean waves at Torrance Beach/Burn Out is during winter, most often in January.
