Swami's in San Diego County is an exposed beach and reef break with fairly consistent surf, working year-round. The best conditions occur with offshore winds from the east and groundswells coming from the west. The reef break offers right-hand waves. It can get crowded when the surf is up, and there are rocks to watch out for. The ideal conditions are when a West swell combines with an offshore wind from the East. Winter, particularly in January, provides the most consistent clean waves with light offshore winds.
