Stinson Beach in San Francisco Marin is a fairly exposed beach break with consistent surf, particularly during the summer months when conditions are ideal. The spot works best with distant groundswells from the southwest and offshore winds from the northeast. It offers both left and right-hand waves, with the best surf typically around high tide. While it can get crowded at times, Stinson Beach remains a popular and reliable option. Winter, especially January, brings the most consistent clean waves with light offshore winds. Surfers should be cautious of sharks, rips, and rocks. Optimal conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with easterly offshore winds.
