Redwood Creek in Humboldt County is an exposed river break that works best with groundswells from the west and offshore winds from the east-southeast. Optimal conditions are typically found around low tide as the tide is falling. The break can get crowded when working and surfers should be aware of hazards including rip currents, rocks, localism, and sharks (the area is shark protected). The most consistent clean waves are usually seen in winter, especially in January.
