Leucadia in San Diego County is an exposed sandbar break known for its reliable surf. The best conditions occur in summer with offshore winds from the east-northeast and groundswells from the west. The break is surfable at all tide stages and rarely gets crowded, though crowds can become a hazard at times. The best conditions for clean waves happen when a West swell combines with offshore winds from the East-northeast. Winter, especially in January, provides the most consistent clean waves with light offshore winds.
