Latigo Point in Los Angeles County is a fairly exposed point break that performs best in summer, though the most consistent clean surf is typically seen in spring, especially April. The spot favors clean groundswells from the south and offshore winds from the north-northwest. When it’s working, it can draw crowds, and surfers should watch for rips, undertow, submerged rocks, pollution, and issues related to localism and private beach access. Optimal conditions occur when a south swell aligns with offshore winds from the north-northwest.
