Isla Vista in Santa Barbara is a fairly exposed beach and reef break with fairly consistent surf, peaking in Winter. It performs best with offshore winds from the northeast and receives both local windswells and distant groundswells, favoring a swell direction from the west. The break offers both left and right-hand waves and works best around low tide. The spot is often crowded, and surfers should be cautious of submerged rocks. January is typically the best month for consistent clean waves at Isla Vista.
